Nuno Cera

Using film, photography and drawing, I create a view system that is the result of: emotions, landscapes, visual and time experiences, visions of places, motion, trash, nature, small actions, empty spaces, beauty, travels, love, people, cities and searching.

Born in Beja, 1972. Lives and works in Berlin and Lisboa
Graduated in advertising by the IADE, Lisbon, 1995. Attended the Maumaus Photography workshop – School of art and photography, Lisbon (1995/1997). Has been granted a scholarship by the Pépinières Européennes pour Jeunes Artistes, the Orient Foundation and the CPF-Portuguese Photography Centre of the Ministry of Culture. In 2001, he was awarded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation João Hogan scholarship for resident artists to the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, in Berlin. In 2004, was nomineed to be in the short list of the first edition of Besphoto – Portuguese Photographic Award.
Assistent to Pedro Cabrita Reis (1997/1999). Artistic activity and exhibitions since 1993. He is represented in several public and private collections. Individual and group exhibits include The Prora Complex and other works (Berlin, 2005); Cosmic (Berlin, 2005); Dark Forces (Viseu, 2004); DK (Berlin, 2003); Berlin - a super-8 movie (New York, 2003); Smog (2000, Lisboa)/Runaway World (Caldas da Rainha, 2000); Snapshots (Coimbra, 1997) ; and Besphoto – (Lisboa, 2005); Metamorph.IX Biennale di Venezia de Architettura / Metaflux - Portuguese Pavillion (with Diogo Lopes); (2004,Venezia); Outras alternatives - Novas experiencias visuais em Portugal (Vigo, 2003); Fair Play (Berlin, 2003), 7 Artistas ao 10º Mês (Lisboa, 2001); Observatório (Madrid, 1998).
